POST PRODUCTION: Editing

Although Abbie is our assigned editor, we all got together to create our rough cut, using Adobe Premier Pro. This way we were able to sit and discuss which shots went well, which didn't and what changes we all felt would be needed during the fine cut.

We found that the lighting in our scenes had turned out as intended which was a big relief, although we all agreed that during the final cut, the lighting should still be adjusted during the initial scene to a bright saturated tint. This will reflect the manic mood of Jack, as he perceives his morning to be really amazing rather than a regular morning, before Sheela enters and the narrative begins.

We discarded any scenes that we knew hadn't been successful at the time of filming. We also discarded a few scenes with problems we hadn't spotted at the time, such as scenes where our actor makes direct eye contact with the camera lense (the viewer).

During this first cut we also cropped a few scenes as much as we could without too much distortion because we hadn't spotted some details that accidentally made it into shot. For example during scene 1, as Sheena enters through a door the cable from the boom mic was visible to the right.

We all agreed that given more time we would like to have taken more shots from more angles and experiment more. It was also noted that it would do our film good to have had more contrasting shot depth (or zoom) in shots that transition.

After our list was ready to go, with time stamped notes, we left the editing and soundtrack file with Abbie, who periodically provided us with updates as she worked for group feedback.
