PRODUCTION: Filming Scene 1

Scene one is filmed indoors, meaning we didn't have to worry as much about preventing unintentional asynchronous sound. This scene also contains the most dialogue, and so sound quality was key here. When lining up our shots, Jayd and Alex referred to our original storyboard to make initial decisions. My role was to look at the composition of each shot and keep an eye on the amount of space about each characters head and how much movement was in each shot.

This scene is also important as it is intended to function as bookends for our film, solidifying to our audience, that time in our film is not linear, and that the same events are being revisited.

The 3x3 grid on our cameras view finder made it easier to adhere to the compositional rule of thirds, ideally the eyeliner of our protagonist would sit along the top horizontal line on the view finder.

We also added yellow plates and red mugs, to pick out our planned saturated colour scheme. With a plan to have this become more apparent when the colour is adjusted in our fine cut.

We played our sound track on a blue-tooth speaker so that Vince (Jack) could dance along to it, so that when we add in the clearer sound in post, his dancing syncs up nicely.

One issue we spotted with these shots in post production, was that our actor Vince (Jack) looks directly into the camera during a close up shot.
